What would you do if one fine afternoon you received a box full of goodies you don't remember at all ordering (and paying) online? Would you be happy because you got it without spending a single cent or would you be worried that the company who sent it to you by mistake would ask you to pay for it?
It is only few months when I started to get inclined with shopping online. You may have read from some of my previous posts why---I can't withdraw my Paypal earnings because it's not yet verified. Few weeks ago, I arrived home early and noticed that a familiar parcel is waiting for me. I thought it was the box I've been waiting for; that they just delivered it earlier than expected.

But, when I opened the parcel, I realized it wasn't the box I was expecting and I went through these stages:
(1) Excitement. "Ohh the box I've been waiting for is here! I'm so excited! Let's open it!"
(2) Disappointment. "Wait. This isn't what I ordered. Why did I receive this box???"
(3) Confusion slash Freaking Out stage. "I don't remember subscribing for this month's box so why did they send me this??? What's happening???"
(4) Stage of Calm and Clear Thinking. "Yeah I really didn't subscribe for this so I am going to e-mail them and ask for explanation!"

After I sent the e-mail, I looked at the contents of the box and realized that it contains almost the same products from their previous box. I was suddenly glad that I really didn't subscribe for that month's box.
I received a reply the next morning and they told me that it was a mistake made by their shipping manager. They thought they haven't sent me yet the one that I ordered the previous month. I asked what I should do with the box---should I pay for it or should I send it back? They told me that if I would be nice enough, I may send the box back.
Okay. I am not the type of person who keeps things that aren't mine. It just doesn't feel right. So I told them that I'd send the box back but they should shoulder the shipping fee. They agreed. The next day, I went straight to LBC after work to send the box BUT (!) such a stressful situation happened! LBC refused to ship the box because they said it contains fragile items. I told them that I received that box in exactly same packaging and it was also delivered via LBC. Honestly, I was already feeling tired that time so I wasn't armed with much patience. I just went out their office and tried my luck in their other branch.
Guess what? The other branch neither accepted the box! Apparently, the branch where I first went called that other branch and informed them about what I was about to ship. Without further words to say, I just went home feeling so frustrated and yeah, angry. I e-mailed the company again and informed them about what happened and how much hassle it has been for me and how it wasn't even my fault that the box was delivered to my doorstep. At the end of my e-mail, I asked them what they want me to do with the box. It's been weeks already and up until now, they haven't replied yet.
My mom told me that I should just use the contents of the box instead of waiting for their expiration date. What do you think? If this thing happens to you too, what would you do?
Note: I chose not to mention what company/store it is to prevent any issues. I just want to ventilate. It's a personal experience after all.
use it! use it! use it!lol....
ReplyDeleteHaha. Let's see! :)
DeleteI will just gift the box to someone else to sell the items online (to earn money hihi). :D
ReplyDeleteYour mom is right, just use the contents of the box before they expire. Hihi :)
ReplyDeleteIf the box were more secured and properly marked as fragile, wouldn't LBC accept it? If it's to much of a hassle, just donate it.
ReplyDeleteThe woman who works in the LBC branch where I went was so SO sunget. The box was hard enough to protect the contents. (I think) she's just too strict. -_-
DeleteHmm.. if I were in your shoes, I would make the company do the work. I mean, you already did your part by going to LBC yet nothing was accomplished. Let them fix it. If they want the package back, have the courier pick it up instead.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I was thinking---have them pick up the box from our house. But they didn't email me back anymore. -_-
DeleteFor me, i will just simply ignore it and let it be pulled back to the company where it came from. It's not my fault anyway at the first place.
ReplyDeleteLess choice, I think you just need to use what was sent to you. Has the company told you that they will still be sending the current month box? as if the wrong box will just be a bonus?
ReplyDeleteI didn't subscribe for the current month's box and I think I'll never do again. XD
DeleteIt'd be probably best if you just donated them. Or maybe try with another shipping company.
ReplyDeleteActually, I had thought of trying w/ another shipping company but they no longer replied to my email. XD
Deletesend another e-mail to the company and asked them to do the shipping by themselves.
ReplyDeleteYou've done your part and exerted effort, now let the company who made the mistake solve the problem.
ReplyDeleteIt happened to me once. I got magazine subscription and I remember i did not order it. I went to the post office and returned it then I called the company informing htme that I did not order nay magazine and they cancelled it.
ReplyDeleteUse it :P You tried your best but LBC wouldn't accept it plus the company did not write you back anymore so maybe they had scratched that as a done deal ;) Besides, it wasn't your fault.
ReplyDeleteIts not your fault the box was delivered on your address .. the company should be the one taking steps to retrieve it. Give them ultimatum to retrieve it or else it will be discarded as unsolicited package .
ReplyDeleteIts not ur fault anymore- you've done your part anyway. Hanep din ang LBC ano? u should email also LBC para ma feedback
